My Work Table Is Unpacked

Here's my supervisor taking a catnap, err dognap. She had a busy day making sure I didn't goof off. Since the mattress is still on the floor it's easy for Sadie to jump up and make herself cozy.

Today I spent quite a bit of time moving things around in the studio so I could at least have a work surface.  My work table is now cleared and my tools have been found.  I put them all in the multi-colored cabinet next to my table.  They won't stay there very long and this clean looking table won't stay this way.  As soon as I sit down it will explode with bits and pieces of wire, metal and beads.  I'll be designing a new piece tomorrow and post it on Thursday or Friday at the latest.

The rest of the studio is still in havoc.  The shelving needs to be delivered and put together before I can do anything else.  Then I'll prime and paint these walls.  Any suggestions for the color?

Unpacking The New Studio

As you might have guessed, I've  been away from the computer, spending most of my time getting my new home liveable.  It's been 16 years since I've moved last, so I have 'collected' a lot of things.  Many things were given away before moving, but I'm now finding more things that just don't make any sense in my new home.  So they will go to the local thrift shop or to friends and family.

My studio is the next room on my list to unpack and get organized.  In the words of Nancy (the cartoon) AAAAAARRGGGHHH!  Here's a picture of my work table.  There won't be much happening here until I can find the table.  My mind is reeling with trying to figure out where to put things.

I miss the built in shelves from my previous home.  I have ordered 3 sets of leaning shelves for the wall to the left of the fireplace.  These will give me some much needed places to store all my must have materials and my art magazines and books.

My poor bead drawers need a bit of help.  Some of the wheels are now broken.  After I take the broken wheels off they should straighten up.  They are going to be moved from this wall to the very back wall.  This wall will have my work table.  At least that's the plan for today.

Finally, there will be some track lighting and a light installed in the ceiling fan, along with some happy paint to brighten up this dark paneling.  Is that a roasting pan to the bottom left of this picture?  Hmmm, one more thing for the kitchen.

Mountain Studio Begins

I've achieved my goal of relocationg to the mountains of West Virginia.  Here are a couple of pictures of the beauty that is around my new home.  Blackwater Falls is about 20 minutes up the road from me.   http://www.blackwaterfalls.com/

The 26 foot truck with most of my world drove the steep roads and sharp turns, with my brother-in-law Ron at the wheel, last weekend. Sadie, my little Shih-Zhu road in her new car seat next to me. It has been a whirlwind of a week, but things are beginning to take shape.  Yesterday I actually found my hand tools and some wire.  However, many boxes took my attention away from creating to the daunting task of unpacking and trying to figure out where to put things.  The studio is currently a huge pile of unopened boxes.  Maybe I'll take a before picture.

I can't wait to sit down and at least wire wrap a few beads.  Once I do, I'll post a picture of my very first jewelry creation from my new home. In the meantime, here's a picture of Mr.Grasshopper.
